MY PROCESS

When I am stage managing a show, I start prepping for it months beforehand. I start by making a scene breakdown, and from there I'll make my props/costumes/lights/sound breakdowns which I store in a google drive. Once a show has started I'll make the google drive public to the production team, and once the show is cast I'll make the drive public to the cast. I believe that everyone involved in the process should be able to have access to any part of the show at any time. When it comes to the rehearsal process, I like to make sure I have a discussion with the director about how they would like me to call breaks and how on schedule they want to remain. I believe in constant communication and constant transparency.

Loom

The show was very minimalistic when it came to scene changes, but costume changes and props were a plenty with this show. One of the more difficult parts of this show was figuring out the logistics of the weaving. I had to find a hidden way to label each rope, so that the cast knew which rope was theirs right away. I also had to spike where to stop when lowering and raising the loom, very similar to what you would do with a fly line. Lastly, the weaving yarn had to be stored somewhere, so I came up with idea of adding a basket to the set as storage.

TEMPLATES

TEMPLATES

Here are some templates for my paperwork that use I when I stage manage. Also, please feel free to download them, as I have attached them as PDFs. When I first started stage managing I would've loved to have access to different templates to draw inspiration from.
