INITIAL CONCEPT
Something we as a team wanted to focus on were the pockets of separation and safety that a place like the Kit Kat Klub created for marginalized groups in society. While the outside world seems to be crumbling away and we come face to face with tragedy on a daily basis, we all try to seek comfort and distractions in our own way. The Emcee sums this up perfectly in the opening number, "Willkommen",
"Leave your troubles outside
So life is disappointing, forget it!
In here life is beautiful
The girls are beautiful
Even the orchestra is beautiful".

Unfortunately, our opening night was a week into lockdown in 2020. Our show never got to have an audience, and we never got to feel that catharsis that comes from opening a show. A show that was completely student produced and student run. We never got to have our photo call due to the pandemic, so the entire design team didn't even have any photos to show for. That is why I took it upon myself to plan a photo day for all of our portfolios. We used only 5 people for all of the photos to limit the amount of people in the room. I am proud to say I found a way to make sure the creative team got to experience some sort of closure and catharsis with this show. And, I am even more proud of how the end result turned out. So please, enjoy!
